84003  transferred  to  departmental service at Derby RTC Jan 81 as spares donor for load bank loco 84009

84003 expired locally with fire damage on April 23rd 1980. She was eventually transfered to the departmental sector as a spares donor for the RTC’s 84009. 84003 is seen at Derby RTC on August 14th 1982. She was cut early in 1986 another North British loco lost..

84003 cut up at Vic Berrys Leicester 0386, another rare piece of North British engineering confined to scrap..

Thanks to Jim Burton for thus rare 84003 performance log from the Summer of 75. A case perhaps of the motive power mattered per se and the performance was nigh irrelevant.  The following falls into that category – my only run behind a Class 84!!  I was bound for the North Wales Coast and 1M41 had already produced 40083 (YK) much to my satisfaction.

Having arrived at Stockport there was no loco to work the Shrewsbury portion!

Festering for some 30 minutes on Stockport platform proved to be well worth the effort when at last the loco turned up!!
