With little holiday left this was a desperate “day” trip to Fife to rake in the 26 hauled Kirkcaldys and have a final blast of the Edinburgh – Dundee circuit before the units took over. I was hoping 26002 or 26015 may be out, 26015 had been a few days earlier and as they were both very much required. Hopefully a few roarers would be out to add to the bash.

The usual 2 other “Cobbler men” were waiting at Leighton advising that 81007, 85008, 85016 and 85024 had all “roared” on the evening Cobblers so it was no suprise when 1B10 roared too. This last evening Cobbler remained a fairly solid “roarer” turn throughout its existence.

This was a serious bowl out at Rugby, 1S06 was, even in 1986 a very regular “roarer” producer but not tonight. Cue much disgust as the can whined into Rugby.

“S19” bounds to “roar” commented my always optimistic mate, as we enjoyed the screams and bucks of a class 310 power car travel to Brum to intercept 1S19.

my mate was right, a decent 85 up front, we celebrated by dossing out!

a pathetic 1.24 miiles out of 26038 today for me!

A big cheer at Carstairs when good old regular 85035 rounded the corner with the Glasgow portion.

This train didnt roar that often, so a bonus move on the rarer 85005.

So no 26002 or 26015, but small blasts on 26010/011/038 and 046. A superb last Circuit run for me on 27049 Edinburgh – Dundee and back the highlight of the Kirkcaldy “Day trip”. The Edinburgh – Dundees were superb little trains and were soon to finish, a great loss to us all.
And some serious “roarer” mileage to and from Scotland, happy days!!!
No phots though i’m afraid, camera issues but good memories none the less!!!

Heres the fine machine that raised a cheer a year later, 85035 on Railtour duty at Wigan NW on August 3rd 1985.
