A day trip to Peterborough, May 10th 1982

Monday May 10th 1982 saw the late Tony Ewer travel from his then Bedford home to Peterborough via St Pancras and Liverpool St. Here are seven of his superb photos from that May day.

Not often you see phots of the 0727 Luton – St Pancras commuter seen here at Luton, 47203 is powering, the Luton commuter got a fair few 47’s unlike the peak dominated Bedford commuters. Also just visible is 45132 leaving on the up fast with the 0638 Bedford – St Pancras.

Classic Liverpool St with spotters in jackets, the staff member in his light Summer drivers jacket too. 31116 and 31138 are the power

An unusual but nice image of Bishops Stortford as 37110 arrives with the 1005 Liverpool St – Cambridge, always plenty thrash on these trains.

A workstained 40081 stabled at Peterborough

37122 looking good on March depot with 31295 and 25265 just visible behind

The classic March station footbridge view as 37048 passes with a lenghthy train of Cartics from Harwich

37084 thrashes out of Audley End with a Cambridge – Liverpool St service, not quite the same today!
