The Caledonian Railway remains my favourite preserved railway by far, it remains delightfully uncommercialised, Rover fares are really good value, the atmospheric terminal station building at Brechin is top drawer, the volunteers seem to enjoy themselves the whole time and theres the power,,,class 26’s and 27’s always seem much more rateable in Scotland!
With just 2 locos out 26014 and 27024 the moves were a bit predictable, the resident 08 at Bridge of Dun did short brake van rides too. With 5 Mk I’s in tow and on some runs a dead tail loco the thrash, where possible was superb

This was a suprise, Trident 18506 making her preservation debut arrives at Montrose with the 0833 shuttle to Bridge of Dun on August 1st 2025, boy could she shift!

Superb or what, 27024 and 26014 at Brechin after a decent thrash on the 1230 ex Bridge of Dun on August 2nd 2025

With the former Dunblane footbridge looking good too, 26014 awaits departure for Brechin at Bridge of Dun on August 2nd 2025.

Archive view of Bridge of Dun with 37097 awaiting departure for Brechin on May 3rd 2009, after the next day the tractor was taken out of active service, her return is keenly awaited by some.

Another “teacup” long out of service, 26035 at Brechin on May 4th 2003, she had been paired up with the then blue 27024 on the 1230 Bridge of Dun – Brechin that grey May morning…
