Something different! My mate is very keen on all things London Underground and likes his art. When he suggested spending a day with him seeking out Central line Labyrinths i agreed, as if nothing else i could scratch a few Central line shacks.
Each of the 270 London Underground station has a different Labyrinth, a sort of Spirograph creation. They were designed by artist Mark Wallinger and are located at various places at each station. Today my mate decided to do the Central Line extremities and got over 30 of the different stations in seeking labyrinths! Rebuilding work at Leyton meant the Leyton Labyrinth was locked in a waiting room surrounded by hoarding. The Central line loop beyond Hainault has a branch line feel about it, quiet former GER big railway buildings and clearences. Chigwell was the up market lunch venue.
Central Line stations at the Ruislip end of the line are much more modern mainly 60’s designs after the Central line extension opened in 1948. At West Ruislip Chiltern provided the sounds as 68022 stormed North.
After 7 hours of Central Line bashing we decided to call it a day, great fun and theres a lot more to the Central line than i ever realised! Cheers JW!
