Yorkshire 40’s, June 77
A top ticket! No time restrictions either
My first ever “Yorkshire Ranger” rover ticket was experienced in late June 77. The main aim was 40 haulage but also spotting these fine locos as time allowed. Desperate overnights meant i was dog tired and in dire need of a bath once back home in Bedfordshire!.
The sharpest memory is on the last day of the rover, Doncaster in the half light around 0330 and 40006 and 40194 passing on a lengthy freight. A few days earlier leaping off 40084 on the Halifax/Huddersfield – Kings X portion at Wakefield Kirkgate. The following 40’s produced in a 0940-1220 short spell here
