Class 730 finally enter service, Nov 2023

Well some years late but the class 730 unit finally entered service with LNWR on Monday November 13th. West Midlands liveried (CIE Orange) sets are being initially used as the LNWR ones havent entered service yet.

At a very wet Leighton, 730010 and 730007 wait time with 2B02 0604 Bletchley – Euston on Monday November 13th 2023, the inagural service train working for the Derby built class of unit.

In better weather 730007 and 730010 stand at Tring prior to working 2T50 1641 Tring – Euston on their first day of service train operaton, Monday November 13th 2023

With very little publicity 730010 and 730007 worked 2B02 0604 Bletchley – Euston on Monday November 13th and the remaining former class 319 diagram with technicians aboard, something that continued all week. From Tues 14th 730011 and 730006 took over the diagram and lasted all week.

Looking good at Bletchley 730011 and 730006 after working 2B49 1734 Euston – Bletchley on November 16th 2023

Looking very sleek from this angle, the 730s at Bletchley on November 16th 2023

Although my mileage behind 730’s is pathetic, initial reactions are fantastic “whack amps” acceleration, reasonable interior seating (much better than a rancid 350’2) and the “new car” smell they currently have.
