Thanks to Jim Burton for another classic log
In the course of my usual journey at beginning and end of each term from NNG to Waverley -in those days railway enthusiasts were not privy to the knowledge provided by modern technology and so I was expecting the booked Class 55 on 1A16……still timing using ordinary wrist-watch, I fear!!
Also worth noting line speed limit for Scottish Region still 75 mph – despite what the A4 had done on the Glasgow-Aberdeens!!!!

This an eg of a perfectly timed run, with but one stretch of taking liberties with the line limit!! Shows that a 55 schedule on this route could comfortably be kept by a 2700 hp machine.
Thanks again to Jim Burton for the classic log…
