
John Williams is a keen rail enthusiast who was Maidenhead based for much of the 70’s. Here he headed the Maidenhead Grammar School Railway Society where he took groups of 20 plus kids to depots across the country by train and bus. A good few overnights feature, many Deltics. His wife came from Caerphilly which explains the many Reading – Cardiff trips. His parents lived in North Wales so a fair few trips along the coast too! In 1982 John moved to Leighton Buzzard where he still resides, a good few Cobbler moves and his annual Midland Railrover trips saw more, sometimes exotic haulages. He was never a basher but remains a top rail enthusiast though…Give him a wave passing Linslade allotments, where he keeps an eye for rarer WCML workings
