With news that the mighty “Feanor” wasn’t to now take part in the gala and the total absence of a loco roster (just a Timetable) on the LBNGR website plus real fears it would be a repeat of the 2025 Diesel Gala i very nearly flagged this year’s event.
Turning up for the 1239 departure from the Park with a loco roster now in hand, i was immediately impressed by the long list of locos working passenger and not just Stonehenge – Mundays Hill demonstration turns. The 1239 got the ever loud “Creepy” and the “Beverley Sisters” small Simplexes B1 and B2.
This loud trio had all aboard well happy ,a great run. I bailed at Stonehenge for a 2 hour fester which was most enjoyable. To the background music of small and larger Simplexes idling, plus the quarry crane, minature railway and passing trains (all diesel hauled) Stonehenge was a hive of activity with many volunteers here of all ages, simply enjoying their Diesel Gala.
Trumpton and Creepy made plenty noise on the return to the Park too, a good afternoon on the LBNGR raked in. Here’s to the 2027 Diesel Gala!
