Getting there moves and gen Saturday Feb 28th
Much cheering at the Keynes with 87002 arriving on the first down Liverpool, with 87021 similary welcomed forward from Bir Int’l. 37674 and 37893 were noted at Bescot with plenty EH 47s on Crewe. Bailing off the 158s at Ruabon we were surprised at seeing patches of snow around, “looks thicker on the hills” piped up Ian as we waited for the bus to Llangollen.

The snow cover grew thicker as we growled west behind 37240 by Carrog it was a white world, wonderful. As the light faded we enjoyed Sulzer thrash from 25313, 46010 and 47449. The last run of the day was a spectacular thrash through the darkness to Carrog behind old Bletchley “rat” 25313, absolutely superb! A few beers then a night at the equally atmospheric Cambrian.

Gala moves – Sunday Feb 29th 2004
A sunny but icy cold morning at Llangollen saw a simple out and back move to Carrog, the sun and snow scenes at a freezing Carrog were quite special.

The Semaphores are off as 50416 and 56141 arrive at Llangollen with the emcars for the 1000 Carrog service

Getting home moves – Sunday
A bus from Llangollen to Wrexham. A Sunday freight in 60042 on a Llanwern – Dee Marsh steel tugging away nicely unlike 153320 on our service to Chester. 87004 powered us South again via a very dark West Midlands back to the Keynes for the 321 home to a snowless Leighton to end an enjoyable few days..
