North East Additionals, Whit Monday June 6th 1963
The recent August Bank holiday saw the East Coast closed South of Peterborough, with restricted services right across the network due engineering work. Back in the 60’s the railway had a different attitude and as seen here the Whit Monday bank holiday meant additional loco hauled trains to North East coastal resorts like Redcar, Saltburn and Scarborough.
