Old Oak Common open day and more, Sep 72
The 61 bus was joined in Dunstable just before 8am. Half an hour later i was at Luton station with 2 of my mates awaiting the 0910 to Luton. 1C10 the 0650 Derby – St Pancras soon arrived with “yet another Peak” 114 up front.
The usual routine on arrival at St Pancras was to visit Kings Cross Models then the busy station and loco yard itself…The following were logged there..
Kings X
5609,5650,5622,5592,1777,1565,1511,9020,9012,9000,175,1512,5624,1881,1887
1881 and 1887 were uncommon , both cops and well received by the platform enders. The usual slow Metropolitan tube to Paddington where the open day Edmonson ticket to the Open Day was purchased. A packed 117 DMU soon had us on the move with the following power logged en route
1028,5535,1647,1936,1679,55991,1637,1918,824,1753,1936,5530,1598,1642,1927,1875,1632,1061,5536,1614, 7001.
Rare track crossing the Old Oak flyover excited a few aboard but we were well impressed with the power on show at our first ever Open Day.
