A sunny September Saturday on the coast with the 40 action beginning at Chester
after bailing off 47442. 40145 whistled in on the Llandudno – York but with us on
Leighton – Llandudno returns we could only go West.
Still we didnt have to wait long once 25270 had clattered through non stop on the Notts – Llandudno, 40121was joined for a quick thrash along the Dee estuary to Prestatyn. 47408, then 47463 followed before the welcome sight of 40069 approaching on the long coastal approach to Colwyn Bay before joining the fine 40069 then 40077 forward from the Jn. We bailed at little Deganwy (not many 40 bashers bailed there!!) hoping for another 40 on the following train but alas it was a DMU!.
Another DMU returned us from Llandudno for a mileage move back to Crewe on 47463 again. Leaving Crewe on 86241 (yawn) Crewe depot had amongst others 25071, 25084,
25161, 25188, 25233, 25291, 40091, 47321, 47349, 47479 47488 and 85007, not bad eh!
At Bletchley just 08807 and 25138 were stabled, 310065 ended an enjoyable day on the coast.

Some “ned” at Deganwy! 050981 remains the only time to date have bailed at Deganwy but it still retains a loco hauled service although not 40 powered!
