A few of us were in the platform end cabins at New St fresh off an overnight when some poor chap was carried and then stretchered off an overnight train from the North. Somebody wryly commentated , “probably off a week’s freedom!”
Thanks to the late Tony Ewer heres his July 86 Freedom with a good few phots where he did 15 succesive overnights! I asked him about this years later and he just advised you slept on the longer trips during the day too, he also commentated that the jeans he literally lived in for 15 nights were in a bit of a state when he got home. True dedication from Tony Ewer!
