Shackerstone mini gala, Sunday November 2022
After a final car drive along the old trackbed North of Shackerstone, we got out of Guy Kendrick’s car to the magical sound of 20110 whistling away. 3 Cromptons were stabled near the station namely 33008, 33053 and 33201, been a while since we’d seen 3 Cromptons together.
With 5 Mk I’s in tow we enjoyed some good thrash during 2 round trips each behind 20110 and 33053. The 04 (2310) and 08706 were also doing cab rides at Shackerstone.
The last round trip was behind the 20 and 33 paired up, the acceleration was awesome, the thrash and clag loud!
On final approach to Shackerstone the signalman shouted “i could hear you from Shenton”, thats 5 miles away!
Heading back to the car content with an enjoyable day, with the power all shut down, it was the hooting of owls we could hear..!.
