Back in the day most enthusiasts bailed at the occasional small shack to simply make the next service back from where they came, Achnasheen on the Kyle line must have seen many thousands of leaps over the footbridge when the trains crossed over the years.

Dingwall station has been done many times, it still retains its character and the “Mallard” bar for evening festers! Here’s 37262 at Dingwall in June 82.
As the motive power, stock and virtually everything else descended to a low in the 1990’s i slowly started bailing at stations for the sole purpose of getting them in. They all vary, most have a suprise relic from the past, most are OK , some superb, some rancid in all respects! The late Tony Ewer started Station scratching in the mid 80’s , perhaps he was the pioneer? he certainly had a fair few..
The rules i adhere to is that you must get off or on a service train at the station concerned and wait for another train or walk to another. Obviously loco hauled trains are the best way to get em in but Railtours don’t count!
