Photo stops – Carnforth, Buxton, Warrington BQ

The main in the chair during the Buxton photostop/reversal
Summary:
A leisurely start at Carnforth depite everybody’s planned move to reach the tour having to change their plans after 37425 failed on the Barrow turn! 47826 was photted arriving with SRPS tour rake from Falkirk but due a fault was swapped for 57313.
So the immaculate 40145 left about 5 down and was quickly storming down the WCML, next stop Euston would have been nice!
We came off the WCML at Golborne Jn and a good thrash could be heard on the climb up from Hazel Grove to Buxton in warm sun. A busy, too short Buxton photo/reversal stop wth 57313 doing the quarter mile drag back to Buxton headshunt.

57313 takes the tour past Buxton box en route on the short run to the headshunt
40145 then powered by Peak Forest and then did a circular tour of the Manchester suburbs with some reasonable freight only mileage. We ended up at a dark Castleton station where again 57313 powered up to take us down the hill to Bury Bolton St, a relaxed very enjoyable mini tour was over.
The main event the next day was the East Lancs Firebrand tour with 40145 to Stratford-on-Avon, but we and a good few others flagged the main tour for a cheaper day out elsewhere.
