W55024 running day, June 3rd 2023.

55024 the maroon “bubble” was a familiar site at Aylesbury working sandite/route learning turns from 1993-2013 on a regular basis. She entered service at Southall in Nov 60 with early 70s spells at Canton and Laira before becoming an OOC/Reading based regular from 1980-1993. She was converted to a Sandite/route learning car in Sep 93.

Sold to the Chinnor Railway for preservation in 2013 with a great deal of work going into restoring her to close to original condition after the drastic changes made for Sandite work. She worked her first turn in pres in April 2019 and long may it continue!

On June 3rd 2023 she was rostered for all day work with 6 round trips and very popular she proved too!
