My attempts to phot 40013 on the Euston – Carlisle (Andania worked to Crewe) were very nearly thwarted. 40013 was switched from the DS to DF at Ledburn becoming the first 40 to use the new Ledburn Jn to switch tracks….This made her approach to Leighton a tad slow, initially an up 350 on the slow thwarted approach views and then some damn Pendo tried to get in the way too!
The resulting views shown below aren’t perfect but a few memories made, we reckon 213’s first visit to the Leighton area may have been the 0815 Liverpool – Euston back on July 2nd 1960, some 65 years ago…Keep pounding along the WCML “Andania”…
The damn Pendo is still in the way as Andania pounds North past Linslade allotments, November 6th 2025!
