Glos-Warks Diesel Gala weekend July 2023
Saturday July 8th dawned grey and TC’s fast car soon whisked us to Toddington with plenty time for breakfast before the bash began the 0930 departure. A sizeable crowd of familiar faces were aboard with youngsters adding to the atmosphere. Thrash of the day goes to 24081 on the 7 coach 1110 Cheltenham – Broadway, absolutely superb all the way.
25309 thrashed reasonably as did all the other power sampled. The weather at least wasn’t rancidly hot (like the Friday) it was dull with monsoon rains as the enjoyable day ended, not that we cared!

The legendary 24081 that outlived so many of her classmates both in BR and preservation. Shes seen here at Southport Steam centre on March 9th 1985. She propelled the buffet up and down the shed yard. Viewed from a passing tour who all descended on the buffet coach! Sadly Southport Steam centre didnt survive tho the 24 is often out on the Glos-Warks as immaculate as ever.
Thanks to all at the Glos-Warks for such an enjoyable day…
