A lift to the Keynes with the moaning girlfriend wasnt the best of starts, she said i was “never at home”, i promised to be home all day on the forthcoming Sunday. 87032 howling North improved spirits although it wasnt until late afternoon that my winners in 47093 and 37251 produced. S19 and S23 were both cans so it as dull 86207 to Crewe.

85008 was a bonus on the first up overnight back to New St comfortably making required “skinhead” 31144 on the Wolves – Harwich. From Nuneaton 20’s on a bus stop mileage move to Hinkley before a DMU returned us to New St. A decent pair of rats took the 0735 Aber forward to Shrewsbury with the usual manic rush to buy Welshpool tickets as the rats run round here. At Welshpool, a quick trip into town, then back for the 1010 ex Aber. This train was late as usual but on approach we realised there was only one rat up front. Jubilation for me (but not many others) in that it was required 25282 up front, dud 25251 having been dumped at Machylleth.
The quoted 47359 produced on the Yarmouth and to a huge cheer from around 10 bashers at Nuneaton 81003 appeared out of the dusky gloom to return us South on the 1827 Blackpool-Euston a train that “never roared”!!.

I managed to wangle a 3 hour early morning pass out as 1F90 the 0700 Euston – Liverpool “Flower Festival” relief which today was booked a drag engine from Bletchley to Rugby. The rateable but dud 25051 produced with our claims the “roarer (85017) being bigger than the rat” getting some abuse! 310062 returned me South to end a good 3 days with reasonable roarer mileage and 9 winners namely 20140, 25279, 25282, 25325, 31144, 31250, 37251, 47093 and 47359.
