The light blue Court Line coach departed right time with 15 or so regulars all sat at the front and us kids, obviously in the rear seats of a 48 seater coach! There was a lot of road travel but the depots and stabling points were packed with locos.
Brian Lockey’s SBLC were extremly strict on trespass and when the group were struggling t get the 03’s inside Kings Lynn shed my mate opened a gate and walked in. He was shouted at by the elder members! but we all gained 2 confirmed class 03 numbers as a result.
The most atmospheric depot was the old steam shed at Norwich a 4 road? depot packed with locos and dmu’s, throw in fumes, oily ballast, railway litter and largely silent engines very close up , fantastic! A great day out !
