A suprise on Sunday June 25th 2023 saw Simplex power rostered with Stonehenge crews to 2 round trips. Obviously the LBNGR website failed to advertise this hugely rare event but the local paper website delivered with the gen!
The 1140 PP to Mundays Hill (44/43), 1245 from Stonehenge (758009/758220/43/44), the 1400 PP to Mundays Hill (758009/758220/44/43) and 1505 from Stonehenge (43/44) all got Simplex power and it was good to hear the sounds of power reverbarating around the town bringing back memories of the 1970’s when these fine machines were in action on local sand trains. Possibly also the first Simplexs to work the repopened extension to Mundays Hill with a class one service.
302 happy passengers enjoyed their day perhaps the LBNGR will roster these fine locos with a real local history more often, i have ma doubts tho….
