The last one falls – class 33’0, April 86

Mission accomplished, 33040 after haulage from Crewe leaves Shrewsbury with the 1417 Bangor – Cardiff on April 26th 1986

A normal days shopping etc was out of the window when a call from one of Bletchley PSB’s  finest , Steve Wolverton kindly advised that 33040 had worked the 0533 Cardiff – Crewe and was allocated the 1115 Crewe – Bangor and 1417 Bangor – Cardiff.

33040 was my last “standard” (class 33’0) so there was no negotiating a pass out with the mrs, i was just off North! The moves are detailed below with a Coventry bail to buy a “Mid”.

85014 was roaring away nicely at New St on the 1154 Blues football special to Edge Hill, the mighty blues were to be thrashed 5 nil by Liverpool. Shortly after 85015 dragging a failed “can” on up ECS  33040 arrived at Crewe right time and on boarding an anxious wait just in case she was swapped at the last minute. She wasn’t and thrashed nicely to Shrewsbury where i bailed. So after my first recorded class 33 haulage back on March 12th 1977

the last one had fallen 9 years later. This left me with just “slim” 33206 to rake in  which was going to take another 8 years, a tour on May 14th 1994!
